The Fox Theatreis located in Downtown Redwood city, CA center of dining, shopping, government, and business for the entire city. It is conveniently located 15 minutes away from San Francisco, CA. Built on January 5, 1929, it was originally created to house motion pictures and was used for movie attractions for numerous years. Ellis John Arkush, the creator, visited and observed famous places in Europe to construct its Moorish styling in the interior and Gothic exterior.
After its extensive renovation in 1950’s, in its place of movie attractions, The Fox Theatre became a performing stage for many great artists such as Vanessa Williams, Etta James, and Bill Cosby. The auditorium area was designed in Skouras Art Deco style to enhance audience’s overall experience in the theatre. With the brand new state of the art sound system, the Fox Theatre in its compact venue is set perfectly for live performances. In 1993, The Fox Theatre was named on the National Register of Historic Places.
